Charitable giving is already a priority for you, as you’ve demonstrated by your support of FareStart. Tax laws are changing, and 2025 is an opportunity to do a little more to benefit your favorite causes and save on your taxes before those changes take effect. Talk to your tax professional about your best options.
- Give more in 2025 to take advantage of the higher charitable deductions if you itemize on your taxes. These deductions will change in 2026.
- Even if you never itemize, you can still get tax benefits from your charitable giving by giving from your assets instead of your income. Giving appreciated assets (stocks, real estate, etc.) instead of selling them means no capital gains income or taxes.
- QCD (Qualified Charitable Distributions) from an IRA is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give.
- If you’re age 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA or IRA rollover. This is money that you’ve earned, but by donating it you never have to report it as income (or pay taxes on it).
- If you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), now is the time to fund it at a higher level to benefit FareStart and other charities of choice. Thinking about starting a DAF? The new tax law makes DAFs worth another look – now is the best time to open one up to maximize your tax benefits.

Your Gift Opens Doors for FareStart Students:
A recent study of our Social Return on Investment (SROI) showed that for every $1 invested, FareStart returns about $4 back to society in the form of wages, tax contributions, reduced cost of public resources and food benefits.
Give today and be part of something life-changing.
