The FareStart Restaurant refreshed
So much daily magic happens in the FareStart Restaurant. Students get experience working in a fast-paced kitchen, from prep to pantry to the dish pit to the hotline. There are weddings, parties and meetings where guests enjoy beautiful food that is the product of student training in catering. And, perhaps most memorably, thousands of students have graduated from our Adult Culinary training program up on the stairs. Every week they share their thoughts and stories while witnessed and supported by diners who know that the price of their delicious meal and their donations are making a difference and helping reduce homelessness and poverty.
So of course when we updated the FareStart Restaurant this spring, we wanted to keep every important factor in mind, as well as ensure a fresh and inviting atmosphere that is a real community space for transformation - and great food.
We’re pleased with the results of our “refresh” and hope you will be too! If you haven’t come recently, here are a few images of our new look. Hope to see you at a lunch, catered event or Guest Chef Night very soon!
This project would not have been possible without incredible partners. Turner Construction and architectural and design firm NBBJ went above and beyond in their work with us and provided pro bono services and volunteer support. A huge thank you to the State of Washington, which helped fund the refresh and updates to our kitchens. We also thank Dozfy and Kate Reingold for their collaborative mural painted on the mezzanine level of the restaurant!
