28th Annual FareStart Gala Auction Goes Virtual

November 20, 2020

For the first time, the FareStart community gathered together virtually on October 18 to celebrate and support our mission at our annual Gala. Although we were not in the same room, the overwhelming support was tangible.

Our deep thanks to our auction committee and all the donors, bidders and viewers (over 1,000!) who made this a true celebration of community, while also raising $1.5 million to support our work. Special shout out to our fantastic food partners Melissa Miranda of Musang Seattle, Edouardo Jordan of JuneBaby and Salare Restaurant and MOD Pizza.

If you were unable to attend the live stream, you can still watch the full recording on FareStart’s YouTube channel!

“We are standing strong through these difficult times, thanks to the generosity of our community and people like you,” said FareStart’s CEO Angela Dunleavy-Stowell in her opening remarks. “I’ve been heartened by the outpouring of support: the calls, the emails and the notes checking in on our staff, our students and our graduates.”

We want to extend our gratitude to our presenting sponsor, Amazon, and our premier sponsor, Microsoft. Thank you to all our sponsors: Alaska Airlines, Allied Experiential, Boeing, Charlie’s Produce, Continental Mills, Cornerstone Advisors, Cornerstone Architectural Group, Dorsey & Whitney LLP, Kaiser Permanente, MOD Pizza, PCC Community Markets, Starbucks and US Bank.

A highlight of the evening was hearing Scott's story. He is a FareStart graduate who lost his job when the COVID-19 pandemic struck and now is back at FareStart alleviating hunger in our communities.

“[My mom is] proud of me that I'm doing something with my life. You know, I just love it. FareStart means everything,” he said.

Thank you for supporting FareStart through a year of unprecedented challenges and helping us continue to transform lives, disrupt poverty and nourish the community.
