Our Mission:

FareStart provides a community that transforms lives by empowering homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and families to achieve self-sufficiency through life skills, job training, and employment in the food service industry. 

To APPLY:

Attend our weekly orientation held on Tuesdays at 9:30am at FareStart.  Ring the buzzer at the Virginia Street entrance for the receptionist.

What is FareStart?

  • A 16 week hands-on Job Training program in the Culinary Arts (Cooking and Foodservice prep) or Customer Service.
  • Coaching to develop strong, successful work habits.
  • Case Management and Support Services to address personal needs and challenges.
  • Employment Services to help participants achieve employment.

Our Training Options

  • BACK of the HOUSE – cooking, knife skills, food preparation, sanitation, and food safety.
  • FRONT of the HOUSE – Restaurant set-up, service, bussing, and hosting.

Our Support Services

  • Assistance in finding housing
  • Stipend Program
  • Resources to help with basic needs: housing, transportation, meals, clothing, health & hygiene, voicemail, and others.   
  • Individual support in addressing any barriers to success
