How your Contributions Help

Since 1992, FareStart has provided over 3.5 million nutritious meals to those in need and helped homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and their families create new opportunities for the future.

We are able to continue to grow and provide more job training and placement opportunities to more of our neighbors in need because of the tremendous community support we receive from people like you. While approximately half of our operating revenue comes from our businesses, we still rely on individual donations, private foundation grants, and corporate gifts to fund the training and support services for our students.

2009 Program Outcomes:

  • 697 adult men and women were provided with intake services and/or referrals for basic needs (24% increase over 2008)
  • 253 students in the adult program were provided with housing upgrades, mental health services or chemical dependency services
  • 91 adults graduated from the FareStart adult culinary job training program
  • 80 job and internship placements were made for FareStart adult graduates
  • 30 youth graduated from FareStart and YouthCare’s Youth Barista Training & Education program
  • 11 jobs or internships were gained by youth program enrollees, and 22 youth program graduates re-enrolled in school or maintained school attendance
