How your Contributions Help

At FareStart, food is the tool that empowers lives, nourishes families and builds communities. Since 1992,  FareStart has provided nutritious meals to those in need and helped homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and their families create new opportunities for the future. To date, FareStart has provided more than 2.5 million meals to the Seattle community and has provided the opportunity for more than 2,000 individuals to transform their lives through our comprehensive job training and placement program.

We are only able to provide the training to our students that we do because of the tremendous community support that we receive from people like you.  While approximately 40% of our operating revenue comes from our businesses, we still rely on individual donations, private foundation grants, and corporate gifts to fund this transformative experience for our students.

2006 Program Outcomes:

  • 315 Men and women were provided with intake services and/or referrals for basic needs.
  • 146 Adults enrolled in training program and were provided with case management, housing, life skills, and job training.
  • 100 Students passed the training program's three-week probation period.
  • 85% of students achieved employment within 90 days of graduation.
