FareStart Restaurant Detail
Help keep our restaurant looking its best and create the best training environment for our students. Groups help detail the restaurant to ensure we always put our best foot forward with our customers.
Dates/Times: Open to your group’s availability (except Thursdays) after 3 p.m. Group Size: Between 5 and 20 volunteers.
Community Meals Hallway Detail
Our basement kitchen turns out 800-1,000 shelter meals each day and sometimes it needs little extra TLC to keep it spick and span.
Dates/Times: Open to your group’s availability after 1 p.m. Group Size: Between 5 and 20 people.
Every first Wednesday of the month we host a free dinner for the FareStart community (students, graduates, volunteers and donors and their guests). Come support this important event by helping set up, bussing tables, checking in guests and running the raffle. Groups are asked to bring five or so small items for the student/graduate raffle. Examples include: $5 to $50 gift cards, local sporting team gear, tickets to cultural and sporting events, etc.
Dates/Times: First Wednesday of the month from 4:30-7 p.m. Group Size: Between 6 and 10 volunteers.
Classroom and Computer Lab Detail
Help create the best training environment for our students by giving the classrooms and computer lab some extra TLC. Your group will help with dusting, washing, sweeping and mopping to keep our space looking its best for the students.
Dates/Times: Open to your group’s availability. Plan on 1-2 hours depending on group size. Group Size: Between 5 and 15 volunteers.
Help our chef instructors and students prepare shelter meals in the FareStart Community Meals kitchen. No experience required, but you will learn more than you thought possible about cutting and preparing food of all sorts! A great opportunity for hands-on volunteer work.
Dates/Times: Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Group Size: Up to 10 people.

Our Cafés at The 2100 Building in Rainier Valley and Pacific Tower on Beacon Hill are vital components of our Youth Barista Training and Education Program as well as the Youth Culinary Program. Help keep our cafés looking their best, and help create the best training environment for our students. Your group will help detail one of the cafés to ensure we always put our best foot forward with customers.
Dates/Times: Open to your group’s availability. Fridays after 4 p.m. Group Size: Between 5 and 20 people (kids welcome!)
